Doves in the Pentagon?
Despite substantial improvements in security, the Pentagon is still vulnerable to enemy attack, officials there found out on Wednesday afternoon. A dove, of all things, somehow flew in and made its way completely unhindered up to the fourth floor E-Ring, perching itself in the Air Force corridor.
This placed the offending harbinger of peace one floor up and directly above the office of Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld. (Actually it was a beige-y pink mourning dove, or Zenaida macroura, believed to be a juvenile.)
...
The punchline is a must-read.

Our friend, Bert the Turtle -- redux. "Duct Tape and Cover".
Somehow it was inevitable that this would be done: after all, duct tape and plastic is about as effective as ducking under a school desk. I still remember our Tuesday morning air raid drills at the National Cathedral School in my early years there: ducking under desks, standing in the halls against the cinder-block walls, and even in the basement. Then there were the real evacuations during bomb threats in the later 1960s, but that's another story for another day.

Crashing the blog party -- nothing new, but a decent overview of what's happening to the blog-o-sphere in regards to journalism & popular media trying to play catchup to the Blog Phenomenon.
And to think that when I proposed we do a segment about blogs on New Hampshire Public Radio's "The Exchange," I was told, "No one but geeks know what that is."
Feh.

Interesting blog of the week: Antipixel.
Another type and production geek, and fellow traveler in this weird world of Mac.
